Pappy,
Nice report and pictures. That new saw sure was nice. Hope we can "rough it" again.
Good trip report.
I do like the Wood Run campsite - and getting just outside sight of the parking lot.
You were maybe 50 feet from my site. I recognized the two downed trees. Couple of more that blew over in the summer. They will be good for next year. Mine is a little off the top of the ridge and a bit further out. Standing at the fire pit I'm looking right at the bike trail.
Next trip you'll have to do the bike trails.
OK Pete,
We did look around again Saturday PM and may have walked very close to your campsite. The fire ring may have been covered by leaves and hard to see. You'll note those fallen trees are a bit shorter next time.
We would like to go again this winter but I don't know if that will work out.

Great pics, looks like a you guys had a good time.
Aim for the moon, if you miss, at least you will still be among the stars.
Great writeup Pappy - I wish I could have joined you all. I did get in a few day hikes at Crowders Mountain over the weekend.
The thing about the hilly trails in Uwharrie is they were designed before switchbacks were invented, so you feel them.
And no wonder I like hanging with you all - anybody that looks at their dehydrated food then decides to get pizza is all right in my book.
You have set the standard for all future Uwharrie camping trips. Bojangles and Sir Pizza are better than any freeze dried food.
I'm afraid Bonepile gets all the credit here. He initially suggested not eating "Freeze Dried Food" for breakfast as I was just firing up my stove to make my coffee and grits! I resisted when he suggested Bojangles, taking at least a minute to put that stuff away and make it to the car
Pappy
I was kidding about the supervising, its funny I can eat bojangles and pizza at any point. I kind of like the freeze dried stuff. I am not saying I would like to eat it for every meal, but I like them. I havent even tried packit gourmet yet, but soon. Dont get me wrong I am a new yorker and could eat pizza all the time.
I need to make some short trips like this.
