Static rope. It is more efficient for ascending and I didn't even own an ascender for my first year of tree climbing. I just used a prusic (kleimhiest) loop.

You need to put a disclaimer on the video itself though - it may be tongue-in-cheek, but it has the appearance of a training video and it listed as a tutorial, and thus leaves you liable if anyone followed it and fell.

I wouldn't trust that harness in a horizontal position if I were as skinny as you. It already looks somewhat low (ie on your hips more than your waist) and I don't know how well it would hold you in the event of an inversion (which is a distinct possibility if your hammock ever failed). I can see how slack the waist belt is at 4:41. Actually when you are laying in the hammock at the end of the video, an inversion would be almost certain because the anchors is towards your feet. You might consider a chest harness that you can't fall out of. I'm also not a fan of your base anchor - it doesn't pass muster for me.

Safety issues aside though, love it.

Very good observations. Thank you. I will have to rewrite the description on the video with a disclaimer. In the video the direction I was laying was simply used for the camera angle I had. When I actually sleep the TIP is always over my head which allows it to feed into my sleeping bag. May I ask why you do not like my base anchor? Is it the knot? The tree is too small? No branches to stop the line from creeping up? Or maybe a combination of all these?
