I know Barandon has been into snaps lately and was going to use them on another product. Could they be to attach another layer for 4 season warmth?

That is a good idea. Attach another layer or undercover/weather shield.

Okay - I'll throw my hat into the ring too - I got my Yeti yesterday. It's a proto 3 season down, with ... dare I say???...

    ...snaps.

I like both suggestions about the snaps - adding layers and protection. Might have to try both.

I'll have an opportunity to try the Yeti this weekend and post my findings here.

So do we all belong to some sort of special proto Yeti litter?

My Yeti 3 season doesn't have any snaps on it either. Assuming mine is a prototype as well.

maybe the snaps are to connect it to a top quilt via a snap port in a new winter hammock

I don't think a winter hammock is really necessary. Shug has already had the BB down pretty low this past winter. I think it was -26*.

I wanted to think that it would fold over and snap to the other side, but they're all male snaps. Then, I thought maybe it's so the quilt can mate up to an additional layer to turn it into a winter quilt.

Let me get in on this too...

Got my Yeti yesterday, supposedly a prototype. 3 season - down - black --> SNAPS (male).

Interested in hearing the purpose! Did anyone have trouble attaching it to the BB?
I read through the instructions but haven't tried it yet. I was scratching my head a little reading it....

I got mine a few days ago with the snaps. Anyone notice that there is one red one at the head end?

It's really easy to attach. Just place the knotted end of the shockcord hooked onto the gathered end of the head of the hammock. Do the same at the other end. Make sure the footbox is under the shockcord on the footend. All this takes just a few seconds.

I love mine. It comes up around my shoulders unlike my pad. Feels like a nest. I can't wait to take it out into the woods.

I will be using mine tomorrow fo the 1st time. I am taking a short pad for the foot area. I was tossed between the pad and my pack under my feet . I decided on the pad since everything else will be in the pack and it will be hanging from a tree by the hammock
