Second one. First was the WMWR trip in Dec.
I might just start planning one every week from now on.
Kinda like the guy who steps outside his door every morning and says its gonna rain today. Every once in a while, he's right.

So, who. If any one, is still going?
My daughter will kill me if I try to cancel.

As I said, there's a chance I'll make it out Saturday afternoon. I work in bear Creek and live in Rosenberg. Bear Creek is half way there and I'll be working Saturday. It all depends on how early I get up Saturday morning and how long it takes me to get the dogs put up and get the house ready for being empty over the weekend. If it looks like I'll be night hiking to the cove, I likely won't come. If it look like I can get there about 5-ish I'll have supper with y'all and tell some bad 9but clean) jokes around the campfire.
As much as this pains me to say, I've got to bail. I've got some electrical issues here at the old homestead and can't get anyone here until at least Friday and possibly not til Saturday. Refer's on the blink and there's other weirdness happening, and i just don't feel comfortable leaving without knowing what's what.
Remember...no matter where you go...there you are.

Looking at the weather...not looking to be as rainy as they thought.

Forget what other folks may do, ya gotta take that girl out.
I don't know of many places on the LSHT better than Hurricane Cove. It's both a beautiful place and a very short hike in from the parking lot.
There is a finite number of weekends left before she walks that stage at graduation. I know it may seem a long way off but the days she wants to go may not last and if she's interested now, build some memories and get her hooked. (Insert Cat Stevens singing Cat's in the Cradle.)
Words from a dad whose grown kids aren't as hooked as he is on the trees. My son goes to the woods sometimes and daughter only when she can drive to the site and home that same night.

Zort, what is your schedule looking like this weekend? I'm planning of pushing myself mileage wise as a sort of shakedown/gear figuring hike for a thruhike of the LSHT probably next month. Probably means I will be all by my lonesome, but if you are camping Friday and/or Saturday evening, i would like to camp with you and share some campfire conversation.
Let me know where you are going to be posted up and I'll see if i can figure out some combo of loops to fit my mileage and still keep this a HF group hang (some group .... bunch of quitters )
We're heading to parking lot 6on Friday afternoon, and hiking into hurricane cove. I'm not sure how much hiking she'll be up for, so we'll probably be hanging (no pun intended) around camp all day. Gonna try to get some fishing in.
