    My attempt at an anorak

Saw some cool looking anoraks and wanted to try and make one. I had a military surplus wool blanket laying around so I started cutting and sewing. Still need to trim the length and add a front hoodie style pocket.

Heres the blanket cut before sewing

Sewed up before hood attached. The bottom is tucked under its actually a lot longer!

    Heres the current full length.

    And the hood is on!

    Looking good.
Lots of options to add details like pockets, drawstrings and the like.
I need to track down some wool and make one.
    Have sherpas, will travel...

Yeah those are the next steps. This is far as I got tonight, took about 3 hours for this.
My surplus wool blanket worked great. Going to try and find more to make another.

Nice work! Started making one myself yesterday. Ratdog, if you have a harbor freight nearby their wool blend blankets (80% wool/20% poly) are on sale for $8 and regular price is only $10 so cheap material to try out a design.

Well done! I keep one of those blankets in my car at all times. Saved my butt a few times. I like the simplicity of the pattern. Again, nice job.

I had it on for a while at full length it's just way to long. i'm going to shorten it a bit and add some shock cord around the bottom so it can be tightened up a little if needed. This is basically my test run. I'm hoping to get some new ideas to try on my next one!

Good job. The good thing about the extra length is it keeps your upper leg warm and also allows your butt to sit on something when seated.

Well did some finishing touches tonight. Turned out pretty good I think, especially for my first big fabric welding job.

Front pocket welded on and shock cord around the bottom.

Inside the pocket has 2 smaller pockets and a d ring to attach things to.

I think im done for now. Might add something to close the hood and sleeves a little but still thinking how I want to do it.
