MAHHA=Mid Atlantic Hammock Hangers Association. There's a few groups out there that use this abbreviation structure: NEHHA is the Northeast Hammock Hangers Association, for example.

The hang is at the Pine Grove Furnace State Park in PA, April 25 to 27. The planning thread for the Spring Hang has yet to be created, but you can find some info on the trip here:

I've never been to a hang, but this one seems to be one of the most popular around. You'll get to meet a few of the cottage vendors (I understand that Dutch of dutchwaregear.com and 2Questions from 2QZQ will be there), and there's a supposedly schweeeet raffle in the works.

Well I'm off to do my very first overnight hang. I figure I'll make my first hang memorable by doing it in the winter. I'll be doing it at the AT (MD section) for 2 nights 3 days! Thanks to you guys, I got inspired to make my own DIY underquilt and will also be testing that as well (I figure I should just completely skip over pads, though I brought my thermarest prolite plus just in case I need to join my friend in the tent). Here is my pack load. http://lighterpack.com/r/g9tstl Here is the weather forecast

Friday high 33F low 15F with 10% chance of precip
Saturday high 32 low 23 50% chance of snow
Sunday high 37 low 19 40% chance of precip

Hell yea! I'm constantly somewhere on the MDAT... Wish I could be out this weekend. You gonna do the whole stretch?

Nope. Since it would be my first time stepping on the At as well at my first overnight in a hammock, I figure I take it easy and only do a small 6 mile hike in, then 6 miles back. Will be getting at the trail head late at 5:30 so not much hiking the first night

Very cool! You may see some ice too, so that's a good plan. Have fun! I love little getaways, we're lucky to have the AT so close.
