FMB that is about the most honest depiction of the AT I believe I've seen. Shame you had a problem but sometimes you just come back another day.

You're welcome. Hiking can be great and full of high spirits and then, out of nowhere, be full of depression and sorrow. It is a wonderful expression of the live we live daily. The peace I find amidst the pain is enough to point me towards my great hope.

2014 was a great year to thru-hike the AT. It took me a while (26th March - 10th October), but this was by design as I didn't want it to end. I started hammocking from Hot Springs (I bounced my hammock gear there) and hammocked from then on all the way. It got cold in Maine, but I got a zero rated underquilt from hammock gear that was toasty. Best bit was the 100 mile wilderness. The colours were awesome.
I finding re-entry a bit of a drag, and am starting to think about the PCT!
