Here's a little detachable reflector that I made for when you want to find your hammock at night, but can easily remove if desiring to be a bit more stealthy.
Reflector material cut in the shape of a Colorado spinner blade (orange on one side/silver on the other) and attached to a barrel swivel.
That is a cool idea. What is the material. An bait spinner, I couldn't find it on Amazon. Can you describe it a bit better, for the no fishing folk please?

The reflector material that I used had alternating orange and silver stripes that I cut the blade pattern from. I reinforced the hole with some electrical tape, but there are all sorts of different ways to do it. If you wanted, you could apply the reflector directly to the metal spinner blade which would add very little additional weight and might, in fact, work better. Hey, you could just just put the reflector material on the spinner bait and hang the whole thing from the ridgeline...but I'd be careful of the HOOK
The reflective material is retroreflective tape. It is the stuff you see shining back at you on the Highway cones the road construction workers use.

Great idea. I'm a scout leader and when the scouts get to playing man hunt or night time capture the flag hammock cords capture scouts. I use LED Christmas lights. 12' string with AA batteries.

Sky Kid has those on his WBBB as well. His are not multicolored. Nice touch.

Pretty slick, as a scoutmast myself, I tend to want the boys to go to sleep, especially when it is well past 11:00 PM and I am exhausted.Great idea. I have seen this before, but have thought about the tea candles. But with boys jumping in and out of a hammock like a free food sample at costco, that probably wont work :-0
On one of our hangs a lady did something similar with short sections of straws with the reflective tape hung from a string. Night blazes! She had a half dozen hung on the path back to her hammock. Her reason was the fact that she had lost her hammock on a prior hang.
In regards to the tea candles. On our last hike and hang, I used a battery powered tea light to mark the side trail to the camp site for our after dark arrivals. Turned it on and tied at eye level to a tree.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.
