broken tarp pullout/FIXED by the man himself

well I took my tadpole out today to install my new pullouts and broke the first one right away. I snapped off the bottom of the clasp that holds tension on the clip. Has anyone else experienced this or did I just get an odd one?

Nnow I don't mind getting a replacement, I just want to know if I should look for something a little more idot proof. I'd hate to break another one when I really need them. I did get this one rigged up for the time being, but I worry about the sharp broken edge on the plastic damaging my tarp.

I have a set of these but never tried them yet, sorry, and your right Dutch will try and replace it at no cost to you but here is my question.- If you need the extra space inside then why not get permanent tie out loops installed?
I think after time these and any other pull out device is gonna start leaving a mark or with enough use even wear out the tarp,i dont know for sure but i have been worried about this for awhile.
Lost_biker just made me a beautiful tarp and with my new bridge hammock just about ready to go i have been wondering about having him put tie out loops on it as i dont want to risk damaging my new tarp.. just a thought, sorry that i could not really help you., by the way if you do not have the diy skills to add them your self i am sure that it could be done pretty cheap, . Also, that is a really nice looking tarp..

Yeah, I have thought about sending it back in or just adding the pullouts myself. I bought these on a whim one day a while back when I was buying some Argon from Dutch, they just magically appeared in my shopping cart . I do like to ability to move them around, like both on one side if I'm getting some hard wind, or set them up offset in an asym configiration so I can pull the tarp sides down a little closer but still have room to hang asym.

Smooth the sharp edge with fine sandpaper or a file.

I'm not sure how long you have had them, but in the first batch the clasp piece was a problem. He has since beefed them up. Maybe you have the earlier version.

I have used mine 5-6 times now and cranked on them pretty good... tarp still looks good and they are still going strong. I am wierd about not letting the fabric fold in the doughnut though (donut?)
