    New jack on board

    Greetings All!
Jason here, Been a long time backpacker, hiker and biker here in northwest New Jersey. I retired from the corrections field last February. Always packed a UL tent or tarp. Last April I needed some self discovery time so I hit the AT through PA. Needless to say a tent was more of a hassle to carry than it needed to be. So when I got home and knocked the trail dust off I began searching for a better alternative and stumbled upon you guys and gals out there sporting the old backyard tree slings. I found myself diving head first into thew whole thing and build my own bonnet style double with some 1.9 ripstop nylon that I found at a local fabric house. Well after a late night of sewing she was done and I was off to the wilds for a 3 day canoe and hike trip to the Adirondacks. I am in love! I can't think of any other way to go now and find myself dreaming of the trails in a new way. No more rocks, sticks, roots, mud or uneven ground to keep me from my sleep. I have to give props out to all you oldtimers out there and your vids on the MeTube. Great instructionals and tips. I have learned so much. Again, Thanks

Welcome from the Jersey Shore. You should come join us at the NJ Winter Hang if you have the time. The Saturday night pot luck should be some good eats.

Gresh, I wish I could say I had it as good as an inmate. 25 years of dealing with cons is much harder than being one. Especially being old school in this day and age makes for a rough go. When I started it was still quite midevil. I think the transition though from jailer to civilian was tougher. Old habits are hard to break but I'm working on it. Ha ha ha. My last month of work was my favorite when I made it on the maury show.

Welcome! It's nice to find a better system-especially when you can make your own gear.
