    tarp

    ok I am new at this so what can I use to make a cheap tarp for my hammock.

    I've seen some awesome ones made with plastic sheeting from the hardware store, like for painting drop cloth or vapor barrier. There were some good photos on a DIY thread of a tarp made from 2 shower curtains. Cheap but effective

    Depends on what you want to do with it. Car camping, you can use a poly tarp from Walmart. Backpacking requires something lighter like a sil-nylon tarp.

    backpacking going to use it as a tarp for my hammock. Also where do I get it.

    Click on the forums tab on the bar under the Hammock Forums name on the page and a slew of manufacturers who make gear will appear. You will have lots of options for tarps. It will also help you familiarize yourself with different styles, how they are best used, etc. Have fun.
