    Latest DIY Hex Tarp

I just finished this cat-cut hex tarp per the guide over at diygearsupply.com from some grey silnylon 2nds. It's got a got a grosgrain ridgeline. I'll be making some Grizz-Beaks to go with it soon. I added a couple of DAC Featherlite poles in an X-pattern that fit into pole pockets in each corner. This really opens up the tarp, keeps it taught, and gives it some structural support. Anywho, here's a few pictures:

This is the second time I have seen someone use poles like that inside of the tarp. Really cool idea that I never would've thought of. Awesome tarp, I'm green with envy.

Looks great 4est. Like the tie out pockets. The poles are pretty cool. Do you plan to backpack with the poles or just leave them behind?
I see ya have your bridge under there. Have you had any problems with it hitting the tarp? I was thinking of adding side pull-outs to my hex tarp to help with spreader bar contact. Thoughts?

    I like your idea dangerous!

I noticed the grosgrain/webbing is only near the tieouts. Does this hinder the taught tarp at all? (as opposed to the full perimeter hemmed with grosgrain.)

I'll take it! (You're inspired version.... in advance.) Do you grosgrain your creations around the full border Streamline?

I have about 6 rolls of ripstop around, I got them for free too, and I have access to alot more.... all a little more heavy duty than the lightweight hammockforum member would be willing to fiddle with. This tarp kicks out excuses. I think the lightest weight is est 2.0oz/yard.

OP did you make the diy gear supply tarp then added the small pockets + poles or did you totally modify the design?

Hey kerryandjane, I have tried both and I like the tarp more with 1/4" grosgrain around the perimeter vs just a roll hem. I have used 1/2" grosgrain before also. The 1/4" looks better IMO and functions perfectly to give the tarp a nice taught edge, though 4est's did a great job on his so I think this is probably more of a preference thing.
