Thumbs up For those Who Ordered West Marine Dynema by New England Rope

I just got off the phone with a rep from West Marine to determine what they sent out for $.15/ft from their one day sale. I was informed that the New England product they had labeled as 7/64ths was actually the New England 2mm product and that it was really 1.8mm and rated at 1000 lbs. I've emailed New England for their specs since their website doesn't list anything for their STS product.

SO, West Marine is shipping me out the same length of Amsteel 7/64ths at no cost and offered to let me keep what they sent out to boot. I've gotta give West Marine props for great customer service.

Also I've got 1 night of hanging from UCR's from that 1.8mm NE STS product. I hang pretty low in my office and it appeared that I didn't move at all when I checked under me this morning. I can't say that I didn't move at all as my tablecloth was soo comfortable last night.

Just thought I'd give ya'll a heads up so youins' could score a bit of Amsteel for nuthin'. And who doesn't want free Amsteel???

I am speaking to Norm right now, and he does NOT have a clue what I am talking about.
I received a back order invoice this morning for the NE 1000 breaking strength.
    will report back.

he is now checking with his supervisor.
Adding 100 feet of the new one.
We will see where this ends up.
Norm is still not quite getting the gist and has NO sense of humor.

they cancelled my first order today that I made on Friday and honored the price for the Amsteel 7/64 (Samson).
    No invoice yet though.

Sounds like Dynaglide....maybe. It's really 1.8mm often labeled and sold as 2mm and is rated to 1000 pounds......but who knows.

Thanks for the info Dirt. I'll see what I get in the mail, it's supposed to be out for delivery tomorrow. I'd think that .15 per foot is a good price for dynaglide also, if the stuff turns out to be that small.

The brochure for STS (stronger than steel) demonstrates a new marketing thrust.

OP will be fine, but somewhere between the 10,000 and 50,000 hang he'll be at risk of discovering shorter fatigue life of the broasted-fiber product. That,s per published Sampson research from a decade ago.

I'd wait until you have the product in hand to try to score the daily double.

Indeed, I did not know that until I looked it up after your post. Basically new dynaglide colors and sizes. More wisdom from the enlightened cottage entrepreneurs! Thanks!
