found this stuff at Canadian Tire

    http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brows....jsp?locale=en

I was at Canadian Tire the other day and picked up this stuff. is it cheap and stiff. it is braided poly cord.

I assume it will work well for tie out and ridge lines.

Well I guess i will add to this ,
I use a combo of lines,
For my tarp I use a line that is for blinds, I is about 1/8" and it is stiff so it don't tangle. They use it for the line to open and close venetian blinds.
The other line is Edd Speers no-tangle for pull outs and also for my prussic knots on my ridge line that attach my d-ring to the ridge line.
For my hammocks suspension I go with the flow on this one and use amsteel 7/64"
I have had no problems with this combo, and no tangles also.
    Thats my 2 cents

Is that line you have pictured there, hollow braid (ie no core in the middle)?

    Cheers

    Brian,

I have some of that line also. It does have a white core of fibre inside the yellow covering. I like it for guylines and for a tarp ridgeline using small Nightize figure 9 with it.
    Take care,

    CT guyline

Yes it does have a white inner core and yellow braided jecket. I was at work tonight (Home Depot) and the only braided masons line was PINK!! the yellow masons line is twisted line.

Masons line is thinner and cheaper, I will have to try Wally World if not then I think I will just get the stuff from Canadian Tire I had some of the stuff and it has some stiffness to it. I think that is to avoid tangling.

Thanks for sharing the great advise on line and the benefits of solid core.

One of the good things about cordage with a hollow core is it's splicing capability. Just for fun I made whoopie slings out of the braided masons line. It worked alright as a ridge line and tie outs for my tarp. As previously stated, it is prone to tangles.
