    Utah, Salt Lake City area

I am going to be traveling to Salt Lake City at the end of May and I am hoping to at least get a one or two night trip in. I have started researching the area but was wondering if anyone had links to suggestions or would like to meet up and hit the woods.

I will be able to provide better dates closer in but I know it is at the end of May.

I am a strong"ish" hiker 13 mile in the low country here in SC. I know it will be completely different in Utah due to elevation. I will be in town for 4 days prior to the free time so I am hoping this will help a bit with acclimation.

Looking forward to hearing some suggestions.

    Thanks

It really depends on snow. The Uintas may be accessible by then.

Here are a couple sites to look at:
    http://www.utahhikinginfo.com
    http://www.hikesandlakes.com
    http://www.wasatchhiker.com

The Wasatch Hiker site will give you details on just about every trail around SLC. The valley is 4800' or so. Most of the mountain trails around the valley are around 8000'. That will take some getting used to. Drink a lot of water and take your time on the trails.
As the dates get closer, check the weather and trail altitude. If you need details on stuff or company, shoot me a pm and I will do what I can to help out.

Looking through the links and options, they all seem beautiful. Any suggestions for staying out in the woods for the night with some nice views?

@streamline - It will be easier to give you info and ideas when the time gets closer. I would recommend hiking Timp, but right now it is coveted in snow.
Stuff around cottonwood canyon would be good too, but again, it is covered in snow.
Hamongog hikes will get your heart rate up a bit and offer great views too. (Snow)
Look at the hikes and see which hikes look good to you, then contact me a couple weeks before you come out and I will give you an update on conditions.

It's been a while for me, but Timp or many other Wasatch hikes real close to the city. Some excellent hikes start right in the Salt Lake Valley and have fantastic views.

The Okuirrh Mountains can be nice that time of year as well, but are quite arid and barren in spots compared to SC.

Drive little further and you well never run out of good hiking destination. You can still have snow in the higher elevations that time of year, like any high elevation destinations out West.

Some trip reports that I had found on the web a while ago:
