First over night with my complete HG kit.

I've been accumulating HG kit this fall and now have a cuben tarp with doors and sleeves, a 20 degree Phoenix and a 20 degree Burrow. I finally got to spend a night out with the full kit. The low only only got down to 27 degrees (Which actually impressed my Texas friends!) but we did get a little weather.

Spent the day Thursday thinking about camping, but figuring that I wouldn't actually jump when it came to rolling out into the frigid weather. Surprisingly, I actually loaded up and went, just as it started getting dark! I had a bit of trouble tensioning my tarp in the dark, but other than that, all the day-trip practice really made set-up go much more smoothly in the heat (cold?) of the moment.

After I got the hammock and tarp hung and the quilts in place it was dark, windy, and cold so I crawled in my Warbonnet Traveler, nestled into my quilts with my hot water bottle and checked the weather. Below is a video of sleet on Cuben fiber while looking at the Nexrad in the dark.

Woke up in the woods this morning swathed in camo, toasty in my HG quilts.

Those shoes look cold, in spite of being color coordinated!

Since I set up in the dark I'm sort of surprised the tarp looks this good after a gusty night.

A dusting of sleet pellets in the woods.

It was still below freezing so it wasn't melting, but the ice started disappearing as the sun came on the scene.

Quilts sitting in a tree waiting to be stuffed and packed.

Ice on the bike path. The ground was a little too warm for hard, slick ice.

On the ride out to the woods last night I saw 7 deer near the cricket field, but just this guy on the way home.

I love my Hammock Gear kit! Excellent design, top shelf materials, and amazing build quality. If I had it to do over I'd get exactly the same Hammock Gear products!

Enjoyed the photos, especially the burrow shot. I'm expecting delivery of that same multicam quilt tomorrow. It all looks nice and tidy on the bike as well.
