Recycled hammocks? It's a thing, thanks to The Elevated Movement. Hands-on first look

Hello everybody, I'm Gresh. This weekend, Palmetto State Hangers had our annual "Frozen Butt Hang" at Sesquicentennial State Park in Columbia, SC and the "Chief Hammock Officer" of fledgling company The Elevated Movement came down from the frozen north to join us in our decidedly less frozen part of the country.

When he came down, he was nice enough to come packing a few samples of the new project he's working on - 100% recycled, custom printed hammocks. This video is an exclusive first look at those, with a little bit of information about what he and his company are doing, how they're doing it, and when it's all going down.

    The bullet points:
    -100% recycled hammock body material
    -100% recycled straps
-Aircraft grade aluminum triglides made from recycled materials
-Fully printed with ready-to-go artist contributed designs or your own custom work on the hammock (not screen printed...it's pretty righteous)
-100% made in the good ol' USA. 'MURICA!

Thanks to him for coming down and joining us for this hang, and for letting us get a look at what his company is offering. There will be a Kickstarter campaign coming soon for people to get in on the ground floor of this and get one of these at a Kickstarter price (which is generally cheaper than the eventual retail cost).

If you have any questions about what I know about these or my opinion of these, comment. I'm not working for the company and I'm not getting anything in return for this video, so I'll be straight up with my opinion. His website is here, and here's his Facebook page.
I used to be a somebody, now I just camp.

I have a question: when can I get a hammock with the Texas state flag emblazed with all its red, white and blue glory upon it? Cause I WILL be buying one!

Tarps are coming soon I think...but poly rather than silnylon. If he markets to colleges with team logo's he can make a mint of the tailgaters and add ponchos a few stadiums loaded with your team logo poncho/traps sounds like money in the bank..

Custom hammocks can happen, but he has to charge a little more 'cause it's not a full run - having discussed it with him, it REALLY won't be much. Less than $15, more than likely (not gospel, don't buy a house on that).

Custom tarps (poly, like Dirtwheels said) will also be a thing.

Very nice of you to do a video rundown of this new product. I'll definitely be following the progress of the kickstarter campaign. I like the idea of recycled, and I'm intrigued as to how much the recycled poly hammocks will weigh.

I DID IT!!! Just tried it in the living room. Didn't fall once, though it was touch and go for a second or two. Wow, I wish I knew how to post videos! I'll have someone video that soon and see if I can post it. Used my new DIY 11' made out of ARGON CS90. I think it would be easier with a shorter hammock but the stretch in that fabric really helped and I didn't stack two but tried crawling in from below and rolling into it, then tried wrapping the sides around my arms and legs while laying in it and flipping over, then taking my legs out and standing up. My whoopsie slings are all twisted up...Its possible to just keep rolling all the way over while staying in the hammock. I can't believe how easy that was. TRY IT!!! We should start a hammock trick thread, or maybe there's already one out there...that was so much fun!!!

Gresh thanks for posting that video!

My friends and I have dubbed the action "Hammocrobatics" We sometimes set up a bunch in a close enough area and try to move from hammock to hammock in new ways.

Glad you liked the video! Many thanks to Gresh for filming and making this happen!

That is awesome! And great idea with the printed recycled hammock, I've never seen anything like that. I bet you'll get a lot of support from hammock forums people. Im thinking about what I might want printed on a hammock. I am going to start a tricks thread, once I make a video. Hopefully tonight. I'll give you credit for starting the hammocrobatics movement. I'd love to see some videos of you and your friends playing around in hammocks!
