    Hi from KY

    Hi,

I just converted to hammock camping when I went out a couple of weeks ago, and I can say I am hooked. I started backpacking a few years ago, and I love the Red River Gorge in Eastern KY. It is probably my favorite place in KY.

I have been a member a while, and I have been learning a lot from everyone here. Thanks, to everyone for being generous with y'alls knowledge.

Hello from Tennessee! I hear the Red River Gorge is very nice. It was in a recent issue of backpacker after all (I don't normally read those things by the way).

    Happy hangin'

Welcome from Frankfort. RRG is definitely a great destination, but I would encourage you to look at other spots along the Sheltowee Trace and down in Big South Fork to see some of the best that the KY wilderness has to offer.

Welcome fellow Lexingtonian! +1 on the Shewtowee, also at terminus end Cave Run area. Plenty of places to hang here in the Bluegrass.
.... the Aardvark (earth pig)... a rather unremarkable creature whose sole claim to fame is that it is the first animal listed in the dictionary.

Welcome! Watch the forums. There's usually a group hang at the Gorge once or twice a year.

Don't mean to highjack the thread, but when is it usually? I should just ask when will it be this year...
