    1.9oz 70d dwr rip stop

new to this world but excited
I want to build a tarp. So much info out there I'm now confused. 1.9oz 70d dwr rip stop. Is this what I should use? Will I need to spray it with sylicone to more or less H2O proof it? Going to make it out of MULTI-CAM. Just need to know what to get. HELP

Spray on silicone treatments aren't waterproof enough for a tarp, if you want multicam just get some urethane coated from duro.

I found DURO but didn't see that option. What about seam sealing the whole thing would that work?

Seam sealing would be very exepensive, if you want to treat the fabric yourself search " diy sil treatment" the multicam warbonnet tarps use pu coated nylon, maybe you could contact warbonnetguy and see if he would sell some to you.

If you're talking about Duro Epsilon:

    http://multicamfabric.com/shop-fabrics/epsilon

it's great stuff. The NanoSphere coating is probably the best DWR there is out there.

    http://www.schoeller-textiles.com/en...anosphere.html

Like all coatings, it has its limitations. It will eventually wear off, but Epsilon with NanoSphere should last longer than others. It will also eventually wet out. As a tarp, it should be good for most rain, but not for heavy downpours or rain of long duration. IOW, if it rains all night, it might be dripping on you before morning, and you might get some splash through in driving or wind driven rains.

I've not found any info on seam sealing, nor have I tired it myself, but I think the normal DIY procedure should work OK, and its not terribly expensive.

But your best bet for a tarp is silnylon, unless you just have to have camo, then Epsilon is the best bet.

    similar idea

I've got some 70d desert digital camo ripstop coming my way. I'm gonna waterproof it this way https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ead.php?t=2011

I've tested it on something smaller and it worked great. will probably be more of a challenge on something bigger though
