Ice Age trail is not complete, lots of missing "linkages" and disconnected segments, but it is a good trail. Most camping on the trail is in campgrounds along/near the trail, or would be "stealth." There are some primitive shelters along the Northern Kettle. The Sugar River section has a lot of bike traffic. Some segments have extremely limited opportunities for camping, others go through 2 or 3 campgrounds on their length. Some sections are built along wild or scenic areas, which tend to be marshland/swamp, or river corridor. It rolls through farm field edges and along drainage ditches - even alongside subdivisions.

The Ice Age trail is a great concept, and has some great and beautiful sections. It also has a lot of traffic on certain segments. Which segment are you thinking of?

It is a beautiful area, just not very remote. But the Kettle Moraine has a lot going for it.
