how to be a donating member

seems like the only way to be a donating member is through paypal. I have had problems with paypal and won't use it. My thread got move to donating member only and there must be some other way.

If you click the donate button at the top of the page there is instructions and address for check or money order payments for membership. Just be sure to put you member name on so they know who's account to upgrade.

There is an address to send a check or money order in order to become a donating member. Go to the Donate tab, the address is listed on the left.

I recently learned about the moderator resignation last year due to donated funds and transparency issues. Since I'm not a donating member, I can't learn more about the conflict or how it was resolved. Before I do donate, I'd like to understand more fully where that money goes, who has access, and if the moderation and maintenance is on a voluntary or paid base. I'm not disputing that people should be reimbursed for their time, but is that what showing "appreciation for hosting the web site" means?

As best as I remember, the majority of funds went to site expenses and a moderate sum may have been left over and used as the owner sees fit. Only the owner had access to the books. The moderators are unpaid volunteers.

A mod should chime in shortly and correct anything that may have changed.

Your donation goes to keep the site running and however else they want to spend it.
If you aren't comfortable with that last part, then donating might not be for you.

In the past I just used a credit card.
