    Zing it for tarp

Which size is best? 2.2mm or 1.75?

Looking for SRL and tarp line all in one.

I'd go with 2.2 mm for the extra tangle resistance.

    I'd go with 1.75 'cause it's lighter!

no tangling issues with my 1.75, it works great for guylines and ridglines... I use dutchware flyz though which work great with 1.75

I also use 2.2 mm glowire which I also enjoy though... So I don't think you would have buyers remorse with either

If you think I'm joking then you are clearly not a gram weenie.

    1.75 mm Zing-It is:

    1) Lighter
    2) Cheaper
    3) Dutchware stuff like tarp Flyz, Stingerz, and Dutch hooks are specifically designed for 1.75 mm Zing-It
    4) 400 lbs. breaking strength, more than enough strength for tarp ridgelines and tie-outs.

The arguments for 2.2 mm Zing-It:

    1) Stronger (580 lbs. breaking strength), though why you would need more strength than 400 lbs. is beyond me
    2) Easier to splice (I haven't noticed this; just tossing it out there)
    3) More tangle resistant (I've never had tangling issues with either cord, so tangle resistance seems like a weak argument for 2.2 mm)

Additionally, 2.2 mm costs more, weighs more, and doesn't work as well with Dutchware.

    You decide.

I use 1.2 mm tech line from DIYGearSupply.
    1.75mm is WAY too heavy!

I would go to that but seems like splicing would be difficult if not impossible.

I use 1.75 on my Superfly and HG Cuben Winter Palace. I have used Nitize small figure 9, Dutch's Tarp Flyz, Stingerz and Ti Dutch Hooks all on 1.75, all with success, and I like a tight ridgeline. I've never been hammocking in wind gusts over 25 mph so take this for what it's worth, I've not had any problem with ridgeline damage due to wind.
