New Plans! Canoe & Yak Trip!

I'm sorry about changing the plans. This hammock hang was looking dead in the water. So why not hit the Water instead! It looks like I picked a bad weekend for a Hangout! Most of our group is on Vacation with family(Very Important), Hiking the AT, Hot Springs Hangout, or going to a Wedding. So I talked to the ones that's going and came up with this new plan! Which for me is a Great Plan! I Love being in the backwoods of Bankhead! I'm looking at my map and I think we will stay around Coal Mine Branch Falls the first night about 2 1/2 miles and the second night just make camp in a beautiful spot in some lonely canyon about 5 1/2 mile mark? This trip looks to be around 7 1/2 miles long. For you guys that want to come Saturday just hit the water and come down Creek till you find us! Make sure you let us know your coming! You got to paddle down to the dam get out on the right side of the dam and drag your canoe or kayak down below the dam and take off! We will leave what trucks we got at the takeout bridge. Load-em up high! Chemok (David) and I are using a canoe, angrysparrow and Hetairoi are kayaking down stream. I hope you make it Grillmastertoo, bring Collier! Thomas

It was great! I'll type up a trip report later today.

Howdy fellas. How does the Bankhead trail system compare to Talladega ranger district?

I'm not sure how to answer your question.

Bankhead has many trails, both official and unofficial, and it encompasses a stunning amount of geological diversity. It is a wonderful area to hike and explore.

The last 3 trip reports filed from there are here - 1, 2, 3. If you have specific questions, maybe I can answer those better than a general comparison.
