Oh wow, those pictures are beautiful, thanks. It appears to be much more open woodland. The trail system out here in the Talladega district feels kinda crowded in and claustrophobic to me, now I am anxious to get on up to Sipsey

Are you talking about Shoal Creek district or Oakmulgee district? I was under the impression that Oakmulgee was more of a management area used for hunting and a few RV sites.

Sipsey is a wilderness area, so yeah, very very different.

It doesn't matter that there are other places to consider...Sipsey is unique and should be on anyone's 'must do' list.

I think Oakmulgee is an entire different Ranger district. The wilderness trails I speak of are near Cheaha park, south of the I-20 Oxford exit, serviced by the station down in Talladega. I think part of it overlaps the Pinhoti trail system. Based on the pics though, Sipsey looks like a whole 'nother animal .

yep, I was confused. Oakmulgee is on the other side of the state and doesn't have much in the way of trails that I know of. The area you are talking about is great in it's own right, but still very different from Sipsey/Bankhead. I've had a couple of trips on the Pinhoti and really enjoyed it and will be back. But Sispey is a whole 'nother animal
