I have the same Cuben Standard from HG. Love it. I also have a Mambajamba for trips I know will be "rough" or that I'm looking more for shade. Also, if kids are in play, since they might not be able to take care of the Cuben as much.

The mesh snake skins worked better for me rather than the long Cuban sleeve. Easier to deploy and dry out when your tarp gets wet. The Cuban sleeve holds all the moisture in and you have to turn it inside out to dry

Have a question about setting the CF tarp on the ground. How close to the ground does the tarp need to be staked, about 8 inches of airspace between the tarp and ground? At what point does rain start blowing inside the tarp (as a generality)? I realize a lot of things affect this answer, but am looking for a baseline configuration.
I exclusively use my Hammock Gear standard Cuben with doors. When pitched a few inches above my hammock, the edge is no more than 2 feet off the ground. This prevents all rain from hitting my underquilt. I'm in Florida where sideways monsoons are the norm.

Think my question was ambiguous. When "going to the ground" for a lack of trees or whatever reason, I want to know if the tarp is staked directly to the ground or not? Is it customary to leave 6-8 inches for ventilation to prevent condensation or is that asking for rain to be blowing in on me?
Can you guys talk about what you use for the tie outs on this tarp? What kind of setup do you guys use to string it up, and for the tie-out points to the ground?
Has anyone tried using linelocs instead of the D rings? Do you know if they'll sew those on? I don't see much benefit to the D rings over the linelocs...
Any thoughts? Considering pulling the trigger but want to think it all out first.
