    HH Dyna Glide Whoopies

Alright, I'm thinking I want to change my HH over to dynaglide whoopies. It seems, however, that the melted holes in the gathered ends may "abrade" the dynaglide and cause a failure. What have people experienced with this?

My second thought, to avoid threading the dynaglide through the melted holes, is to cut the stock suspension line to about 6" and tie a dynaglide whoopie to the stock suspension with a triple fisherman or something similar to integrate the two ropes. Will dyna glide hold in a fisherman knot? Any unforeseen problems I might encounter?

To avoid a bunch of questions let me provide some information. I'm 145lbs, and have a MLD cuben tarp on my HH Hyperlite Asym. I'm still using my HH because for the time being the cost per ounce to go lighter is not worth it in my opinion. I bought the HH a few years ago super cheap and will replace it eventually. For now, I'm working with what I've got.

The whole setup right now is 23.4 oz with tarp. If I've done my math right, I should be able to get down to 21.8 oz with dyna glide whoopies.

While we're at it, any other suggestions for inexpensive mods for weight savings would be welcome.

Thanks for taking the time to help me out.

Dynaglide will hold you, that I can attest to. How to route it, well I have no experience with Hennessey's so I couldn't tell you. I would suggest though, a larkshead around a loop of Hennessey rope, that way you aren't weakening the dynaglide with a knot.

How about just using a amsteel dogbone or continuous loop and larksheading the DG whopie to that?

Maybe a bowline on a short bit of the HH suspension rope and larkshead the dyna glide to that?

Is the dyna glide too slippery to hold an improved prussik? I would like to stay with the HH prussik tarp system on the suspension...

That could work as far as I know...

The HH way to rig the tarp causes sagging, dynaglyde will magnify that.

Haha I'm all too aware of the sagging. Maybe I'll switch over to an independent ridge line for the tarp. I've been thinking about it for a while.

On the topic of independent ridge line for the tarp... is there any drawback to tensioning the ridge line with a trucker's hitch?

no there shouldn't be (just the time it takes to tie the TH, be tougher in winter with gloves on)...also see

to rig your HH tarp with less sag.... you would make a longer fixed eye in your dynema whoopies just attach through the 2 holes just like you would amsteel or you could use the dogbone or continuous loop like someone else suggested and just use slightly shorter huggers or whoopies with it
