Alright fellow tall guys... do you find you need a longer UQ?

I was just about set on finding a Yeti UQ for my XLC, as it is light and affordable, but then I considered length.

I am 6'4". The Yeti is only 46 inches long... on the short side it seems. Te-Wa's antifreeze is a comparable price and is 52 inches long. So I am considering maybe that would suit me better.

I have never used a UQ before, but I tried sleeping with my friend's hammock the other day with pad and did not care for it. I think a UQ will work for me, but I'd rather try to find the right quilt the first time, rather than wasting my money.

So. Tall guys. Do you prefer a longer UQ? Or have you been satisfied by shorter ones such as the Yeti?

    Thanks for you insight.

    I haven't tried a Yeti, but I am 6'-1" and like my UQ 54" long. I squirm a lot

A 2/3 or 3/4 UQ usually need a foot pad, because your calves and feet will have no insulation under them, even when you're of average height.
So if you don't like that pad, go for a full length like an Incubator.

For reference I am 6'-5" and I like both my 3/4 Phoenix (with pad when it gets below 50) and my Incubator when it gets colder.

As a general rule 20 degree rated UQs are a good choice for 3 season hanging.

I have a Leighlo UQ that is 48 inches if I remember correctly. I love it, but I still use a pad for the lower half. So like Pretbek said, if you don't like pads, go long.

I'm 6'3" 220lbs and i sleep in a ridge runner, so our setups are slightly different. But I did a DIY UQ full length for it, and I'm happy i did. Sure its a little more weight and i dont have as many multi-function things. But the ease that i sleep is amazing. I just snug it up and I'm good to go. Having a UQ was one of the first decisions I made and I'm super happy I did. Even if you don't have much sewing experience you can make one for pretty cheap if your willing to harvest down out of thrift store jackets. I would have bought one but just dont have the funds.

I would say go for the full length quilt. Less fuss while sleeping. Figure out the best way to set it up and then you are good to go.

6'2".......full length 0* Incubator for the cold. 3/4 length 20* DIY for 3 season use & to augment the other in really cold temps.
