I am wondering, which UQ would be the best first UQ to buy for three season camping early mid spring to mid to late fall. Mainly hiking trail from Maryland south to Tennessee/NC, just for your information.

IMO a 3 season Lewis from under quilts.com is the way to go, Great price and high quality craftsmanship all the way around
A 20* Phoenix would be my first purchase. Others to follow as needed.

My go to three season UQ is a 30* Phoenix

20* Phoenix here, can't imagine needing anything else for 3-season.
I will be getting either a 0* or a 20* Zepplin from UGQ other way it will be my year round quilt
It's not the fall im scared of, it's the sudden stop at the end!!!

If you don't need the prestige of pack size go with a kaq jarbidge. Good to 25* and a lot less dent in the wallet. Its an under quilt so you won't be snuggling with it like you would a good top quilt. You will enjoy whatever you decide on.

My forum name is Fish<><; I'm in the navy; and I hate sleeping on the ground. If I didn't need ground to walk on or measure resistance to, I think I could happily give it up.
My guess is that you'd want a 20 degree UQ as that's a more standard cutoff point. The HG 30s are custom, and its a more experienced user that wants to save weight by taking a 30 degree quilt into the 20s, which is where I think you need to be covering yourself for.
Speaking of custom underquilts, Sean at OxGear.com makes some sweet looking ones and will make one as long as you need to temps specs you need and come in less than a standard 20 elsewhere (and comparable weight).
