Taking the plunge into DIY hammock!!!

Placed a order with diygearsupply.com Can't wait to get to work!!! Talked to my mom this weekend and she is giving me one of her sewing machines. So, I've been hanging for about a year with my eno dbl nest, and I've been trying to get my kayaking buddies to join me in hammock hanging. I've also been itching to make a tarp so I figured I can work on my sewing skills and help some buddies out at the same time.

Hope one of then like acu digital camo because that is what I ordered

Will post pics when it's done. Hope it comes in the mail in the next few days!!

Very Cool. I have a video on how I built hammocks. It may be useful to you.

And here's a more detailed look at how the ridge line connects to the end

    Hope it helps.

Tell your mom that she will have to spend some time with you teaching you how to sew. You might learn something and I'd bet she'd be glad to do it.

Where or what site did you order your material from? I'm thinking of doing it my self.

You can try the DIY Tablecloth hammock sometime also if you want a nice hammock for the money. I have made around 12 hammocks and I always go back to the one I made from a tablecloth from the tableclothfactory.com.

    Ace8077 site is www.diygearsupplie.com

Not sure if I will try the table cloth. Will see how this material feels first and decide then. I hoping this spring when we go camping I will have everyone in a hammock. Hopefully the seams hold hahaha.

+1 to that! I love my WBBB and Darien UL but for hanging at home it is always my DIY Tablecloth!

Out of curiosity what material did you order? I did one in 1.1 ripstop a few years ago that is still going strong when I want to go SUL and the weather is fine.

1.8 rip stop. I'm dont get to caught up with weight. I don't care to hike, I'm more a kayak down a river and drink some adult beverage kind of guy.
