The ones I've seen are quite bulky and were made out of stretchy cordage. Be fun to fool around with one but if you want to cut weight and bulk then there are other options.
Don't let life get in the way of living.
That what surprise me that it was made out of paracord . I know where i can get quality paracord if need be . Level of difficulty making your own ? or is their some climbing rope that is better option ?
I think i hit the jackpot . They are call fast ropes (buddy ropes for boy scouts) used by the british army and climbing. Marlow ropes makes it . http://www.marlowropes.com/index.php...147&Itemid=163 . A little expensive , but from what i read it better than making one on your own .
They are not that bad to make.

I messed around with making them a while back. I dont think i would use one for my hammock, but they are fun to mess with.
I am assuming this is where you got the idea?
I don't like it for the simple fact that it's cordage wrapped around a tree. Maybe the diameter, and multi-wrap hitch helps, but it's not a 1" strap, and definitely not the 2" that seems to be trending in regulated areas.
Yes boston this where i got the idea . I also saw a review on this the ship in side a bottle by the guy who written a book on hammocks . So far my hunt has led me to a climbing shop (static rope) . Can't get the fast robe in the length i need or price . It also called a buddy rope and assault rope . I would imagine you can put some type of sleeve on the rope , similar to stake out a new tree in your yard . Their is another youtube channel (survival , bushcraft ) on use 9mm rope for wrapping around a tree . Didn't care for it too much .

According to the review it was design to not damage trees . Derek only complaint was it didn't work on large trees . The diameter of the rope or shape of rope was a concern (could be modified with a piece of garden hose ) . Is their a way to use lark head knot , according to derek (very similar to what is used for the toggle rope) that is better than this method ? Only the center rope , was of concern . So if you could modify some how to would do less damage to smaller tree that commonly found.
