I heard back from Derek . He says it can work , but its a DIY 6 strand project . Hopefully i will heard back from him and some pic to see how it works . Came across on Derek web page , ticket of the moon tree hugger . Looking at dutchware tree hugger too as possible solution.

I really do not understand why people try to use paracord. It was designed for a very specific use hanging off a big nylon bubble. The military escape and evasion or survival courses use it because it comes with the parachute. There are many other types of cordage that are better for most uses.

Because paracord has multi purpose use . Paracord for hammock has to be certain type . For example : 550 Type 3 Paracord or MIL-C-5040 Type 3 550 Lb. . To use use paracord for hammock you have to weave more than one strand.

The main reasons for not using paracord is because it stretches and it absorbs water. It stretches more when wet. It is also heavier and bulkier than some other options.

The stretchiness will cause problems with the lay of the hammock changing as your suspension gets longer and absorbing the water makes pack weight higher and can seep into your hammock as well if it is directly connected to it.

Paracord is nylon. It is meant to stretch under shock load as well as the water issue. That is the opposite of what one wants for most other camp uses. Good quality polyester or polypropylene will both out perform it in most applications. I repeat, the reason the military uses it is that it comes with the parachute. Aside from that it does not take knots as well as a solid braid, is not spliceable like hollow braid, is weak compared to most yachting lines, and stretches so anything made with it sags after a while. You can get sewing or fishing line out of the middle so put 20 ft in your emergency kit. ;-)

Nylon rope is really only good where a lot of stretch is desireable. Ditto kernmantle rope construction.
