OK, I sort of had help from the weather & the fact that my hiking partner dosn't stop shivvvvvvvering till it gets to 80 (S. Florida Native).
But after a COLD (to him) 40 degree night on the ground & a resultant mild case of Hypothermia, at teh RRG last Tue night I gave our sermon: "Here, try my hammock". In just 15 minutes he was back to normal, body temp wise. His first question after the typical "I HAVE GOT TO GET ONE OF THESE!" was "How do you get up in the morning?????" I just grinned knowingly, then told him "be glad it isn't raining, it's nearly impossible to get out of with a steady rain on the tarp."
Granted, my underquilt will likely get a norml to 30 & the overquilt is equally toasty, his stuff was an OLD 40 degree bag, & even his opinion was that new the temp raiting was generous, VERY generous. With a rather well used Z-rest under him.
He is now the proud owner of a (slightly modified) Grand Trunk Hybred. Altho actually he dosn't know he owns it, I want him to spend a night or 3 in it before I spring that on him.
Matt was a hardcore groundling, 'I'll never go to a hammock, they are too cold!". Yea, my "too cold" hammock saved his hike.
"And anther one leaves the dust"
So, what is your "conversion" story?
