Thanks for the thoughts. Seems most here are against the mule strap idea.

13 feet?!?! You can probably get away with 8 feet total!
Speaking of which, it's probably possible to use a tapered webbing sling. Since the back of the tree has more forces put on it then the front. (I think, correct me if I'm wrong).
I pack a six and a four poly 1". Sometime a six and a ten, which doubles as a dog lead.
Come to think of it, I should tie the 6&4 together to use as the dog lead.
I made a set of 6' mule tape straps for my seven year old, she weighs nothing.
Nature restores my sanity. Seeking to get out more.
Good luck,

Thank you all for the thoughts! Redoleary- Harbor Freight carries many traps, which ones are you talking about? Thanks again,
Ben
Probably these ones that he referred to earlier. Now only if I can find some in a different color....

I couldn't say, I'm not familiar with the dutch straps. I'll weigh one of my HF straps and report back.
Good luck,

I just weighed one, minus the steel buckle, the 12' strap weighs 1.95oz/56g. Again that weight is not including the steel buckle thing.
Good luck,
