Where do you put your gear?

    Hi,

I am thinking of getting a hammock and was thinking of where I would store my extra clothes, etc. so that they don't get wet. Is there something (gadget) that it can hang from somewhere under the tarp?

This might sound like a dumb question but I would hate if my motorcycle helmet and jacket are wet in the morning

I am thinking of getting the WBBB XLC and superfly...

    Thanks

Good question. I put my unused gear back in my pack, close the top and hang it from the head end of my hammock suspension with a mini carabiner. It also helps keep my head end down.

There are many other suggestions others will add.

    Good luck!

I just put it in my pack and strapped the pack to the tree with the raincover on. The pack is lined by a trash bag so only the pack gets wet anyway. I want to try one of those under hammock things out though looks alot better.

If your gear is dry, and assuming a nice size tarp, not a diamond fly like with the HH, I would just put down my small tyvek groundsheet (that doubles as a backup tarp or fire tarp) under the tarp and throw gear on top of it.

However, if I have some light gear that is wet I would hang it from my suspension line.

If it was heavy, like a wet kevlar jacket or pants and boots (or both), I would hang my tarp a little higher than usual and run a clothesline using zing-it line and a Tarp Flyz for tensioning. Zing-it is incredibly strong as is a titanium Tarp Flyz and you could pick up 50' and a Flyz for under $20.

I dare say you could possibly use Zing-it and a Tarp Flyz as a come-along to pull your BMW Dakar out of a mud bog. If you do, please post pics.

Anything I want dry I put in the compactor bag I use to keep things dry and then I just lay my pack on my ground cloth. If it is nice and not predicting any threat of rain I hang the pack on one of the trees I am hanging from

You can also reach under yourself while youre in the hammock and grab what you need. If you make it right it could second as a chair and pack cover. This isn't my idea, something I've seen on the forums and YouTube.

I put my stuff underneath the hammock, but I have a 12x12 tarp. I also am careful that I'm not hanging above the drainage area. I put it on top of a outdoor products 5x7 tarp that I use for a ground sheet.
