Check out the clark NX 250 hammock, it has 6 huge pockets UNDER the hammock that are integral to it. All the protected space you need and its part of the hammock, nothing extra to carry or attach. Here is the link to it
    http://www.junglehammock.com/product/nx-250/

It does cost 4+ bills, but the price includes an tough, comfortable hammock, weathershield (similar in operation to a sock) to enclose you and keep you warmer in the cold, and a tarp. Check out the clark subsection on this forum, a lot of us like our clarks.

And good luck in your search.

I use a trash compactor bag to store my dry stuff in and leave it (in the backpack) under the hammock

Why would you carry extra gear? (Certainly, you're welcome to carry anything you'd like, HYOH and all that.) Anything soft, like extra clothes, goes in a sack that acts as my pillow, shoes hang from my ridge line as do my "day socks". My glasses, pocket knife and phone go in my small ridge line "organizer" and all food and toiletries hang in my bear bag. My empty pack either acts as a doormat or goes under my feet as extra insulation.

No way I'm carrying extra gear like a gear hammock to carry my gear. I used to lay my pack on the ground on a tyvek ground sheet or inside a contractor bag, but critters are known to just gnaw on stuff for no particular reason. After a red squirrel tried to carry my Bahco folding saw up a tree, I decided to hang all my gear from my hammock ridgeline.

Almost everyone (except noobs) sleep on a diagonal (in my case - head right, feet left) in a hammock, that leaves all that space on the right side of my feet so I just clip my pack right onto the hammock ridgeline. Pack stays dry, critters can't get to my pack easily - life is good.

I recently purchased the gear hammock from JRB. I have used it twice so far and am really liking it. As a bonus it acts as a pack cover as well. So that way I'm not carrying anything extra, since I always bring a pack cover.

This question gets asked a lot and there are a lot of good answers for different kinds of situations and hiking styles.

Some hike UL and hang what little they have left from their hammock.

As the weather gets colder hikers typically are carrying more but also tend to tarps with more coverage. If conditions are dry or frozen then it's okay to leave things laying on the ground or a small plastic mat.

For group hangs with low mileage, I have been bringing a packable camp chair which doubles as a night stand for my extra gear.

Often time you'll see my clothes bag hanging from one of the porch poles on my tarp.

My Blackbird shelf usually has a load of stuff in it as well.

In one particularly brutal night of thunderstorms and high winds, I gathered a few pieces of firewood under my tarp to lay my pack on and covered with my rain coat. This was the night we watched a fancy feast stove float out from under my buddies tarp. But it wouldn't have mattered, everything we owned was splattered with mud after that storm. We were still far better off than anyone in a tent.

So to say there are lots of ways to deal with gear, you'll find yourself doing different things and finding what works for the situation.

Not even if you were on a motorcycle like the OP?

Seems like storage space is pretty limited on a bike, but maybe I'm mistaken! I haven't done any bikepacking.
