Feedback On My First Setup

Ah ok. If I were to add a layer of insulation, say 2.5 oz Climashield Apex, I'm guessing I could get some more mileage out of a PLUQ? After watching some more Shug videos today I'm pretty keen on an UQ instead of a pad. I'll check the Military surplus just down the road for poncho liners!

Could work. I've made PLUQs for my kids and added a layer of cheap polyester batting and they seem to do pretty well into the low to mid 40s. Some 2.5 ox Apex would probably be a nice addition.

If you sleep pretty warm you *might* do mid to low 40s with the right clothing layers but I'd definitely do some backyard testing before your Smokies trip to find out how well it works for you. Weather can be pretty temperamental in the Smokies in the spring...would hate to see you get caught short.

No, I've been intending to take it to the office and put it on our postage scale but haven't done it yet. My guess it it will a little on the heavy side compared to some.

As long as it isn't too bulky to pack, I think I can handle the extra ounces. I'm sure I'll grow to be a weight weenie with time, but for now I just need things that work!

A stuffed PLUQ will definitely be a little more bulky than a non-stuffed PLUQ and PLUQs are a little more bulky than say a down UQ...but not too badly...

For a cheap UQ, I think I can deal with a little bulk! Thanks for the input!
