If you could only have one tarp.

I'm sure this has been ask but I'm just doing a little homework before buying a new tarp. I have the standard Hennessy asym tarp and I'm not sure it would be enough if the weather got really bad. I was wondering which tarp or tarps you guys recommend because I know everyone has different opinions. Most all my hammock camping will be on the A.T. while backpacking. I have looked at a lot of the tarps you guys have in some of your pics which are very nice. I want to buy an all around tarp that I don't have to worry about getting wet. Maybe doors, not sure I'm not a gram wennie but I don't want something too heavy. Your input would be very helpful, but remember if you could only have one tarp what would it be?

Superfly ... IMHO the best all round tarp for my purposes. Second ... HG's Standard Cuben with doors. I would actually rate these equally for my use and preferences.

I prefer a larger tarp due to the coverage and flexibility for me to use it in all kinds of conditions comfortably.

I like a longer ridge line on my hammock than most folks so my 3 season tarp of choice is the Ox Palace. It's like a Superfly on steroids. 13' of full coverage goodness.
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!

I only have one tarp atm, it is a diy winter tarp... Basically a superfly, versatile, loads of coverage and weighs just over a pound.

I have 2 DIY tarps, but if I were to pick one, it would be the winter tarp/ superfly clone (DIY Gear Supply Plans). You might be able to go a little smaller, but I like the room and ability to close everything when it gets chilly and windy.

    HG Cuben Fiber with doors.

Love mine so much I'm giving it chocolate for Valentine's. It won't eat it because it will go straight to the pullouts but she let's me indulge all I want.

Here are a couple of shots of my winter tarp in porch mode and buttoned down.

If you guys have pics of your tarps would be cool. I love seeing the camping pics anyway. I'm not sure I could DIY I have never used a sewing machine even though my wife has a couple of them. I wouldn't rule out DIY but I figure with the very small amount of patience I have I would probably give up before I finished. Keep them coming you helping me out.
