    Asymmetrical packs/Hennessey tarp

Would the zpacks asymmetrical hammock tarp provide adequate protection for a WBBB? For reference it's about the same size as one of the smaller Hennessey asymmetrical tarps.
I'm seriously considering selling my wb superfly and buying the zpacks because I only just realised that the worst part about ground camping for me was packing large sheets up in the morning.

Maybe - the answer is always maybe

I use the zpacks tarp with a BlackBird when hiking solo. It will keep you dry. But my solo style involves walking many hours very slowly. I do not spend much time in camp. When hiking with a group I use a WB Edge.

Does that affect the effectiveness of a tarp? My main concern is sleeping dry, and I'm aware that some people worry about wind blowing rain onto the bottom of the hammock, which will wet through,

    Yes it does

If effectiveness is defined as "staying dry" then the fly is fine. If you want a fly so that you can cook and your buddies can gather to talk out of the rain, then it is not large enough.

If we all had the same hiking/camping style then we would only need one model and one manufacturer.

Great! So I take it that it weathers through any storms just fine?

    No, sacrifices are needed

It will handle any storm if you select a sheltered site. If you intend on hanging in exposed locations then you need a larger tarp.

It is very nice to hang on the shore of a lake to watch sunrise/set from your hammock. But the sheltered sites generally are not that close to the shoreline.

Sorry, but your hiking style does affect your gear choices.
