That just popped up in the DIY section. For $15 you really have no excuse for not having bottom insulation.

Take a look at the PLUQ, sew and no sew versions are around. Add the space blanket for lower temps.

I live in Florida. The temp can drop into the 60s which is not that cold. However, the dampness in around water makes that a cold 60. I bring my thermarest and pad wings. It make for a comfortable night. I have used the same setup on the AT when it dipped into the high 40s and 50s.

You might want to check bwca.com. They have a hanging forum, it is not as active, but it is specific the B-DUB and Q.

Ok, here is what I have decided to do and my reasoning.

** 1st I am going to get the underquilt protector for 2QZQ for under $40 and only 8oz.

.....This will keep mosquitos from biting through the bottom of the hammock in warmer conditions.

.....It should help with wind in cooler conditions. It will pack small and it will have value when I get an underquilt.

    2. Next I am going to get and experiment with a couple pads.

    A. reflective windshield sun shade
    B. Walmart pad

I am going to experiment with putting these pads inside and outside of my sleeping bag. Maybe end up with the reflective pad inside and the CCF outside.

Once again, both of these items will have value when I get my underquilt, especially if I get a 1/2 length UQ (I am only about 5'5" so I think that might work well).

I may even experiment with putting one of my thermarest pads inside the sleeping bag as I have both a self inflating and foam pad.

As winter ends, I will experiment at home in different temperatures and configurations. I will try to actually collect some data, pictures, and/or video and share with everyone on how it goes.
