    Treble Hammocks

Looks like there will be a new style of hammock on the market soon.

Well at least they're using tree straps and back up knots!

Looks like something designed for lounging around in. Certainly not something conducive to attaching an UQ and getting a good nights' sleep.

Interesting design. There are several features I'd like to know more about, such as the potential for a two-person camping hammock. It would be nice to know what fabric they're using and how much the current version weighs. I bet it could be made lighter, and I know I can insulate anything, so I'm not worried about underquilts. But, is it really more comfortable? Possibly. I like the support under the knees. You'd need to be able to close that opening, though, or get mosquito bites on the backs of your knees. Is there a lot more force exerted on the trees than with conventional hammocks?

Just saw this today on their Kickstarter page. Interesting. I agree with WV. Has an interesting potential for two sleepers (shown a couple times between 3:00 and 3:16 in their Kickstarter video. Looks like they have some adjustable straps underneath to customize the hang (down the center and under the knees). Pretty heavy at 6# (noted in commentary of video), but as WV says, anything can be made lighter. And it looks like they are already imagining an under quilt solution (though again, it would likely be able to be made lighter by the creative folks here). It does have potential to save the need for multiple spreaders and complex rigging that has plagued the idea of a double bridge. The 10'x10'x10' dimensions give an effective central length of approximately 8'8" (and 43-44 sq ft of fabric area). The Treble gear bag shown at 5:10 (again referencing the video on KS) looks quite similar in concept to the Molly Mac Gear Box. Something to watch and mull over.

Looked to me like they were cranking down pretty hard on the straps to get that hammock tight.

I watched the video and I can't see anyway for you to get truly flat for sleeping. The chair and recliner positions are neat but I can do that sitting on the side of my other hammocks.

Neat idea, I'd have one in the garden if it was dry enough here. Not sure the size is conducive to use on the trail though, even if you overcome the weight. Again, not sure about sleep as I usually sleep on my side or even my front.

Corey that made me laugh my butt off.

I really like this design. It looks so neat. One issue is no bug protection. I live in SC and mosquitos are a problem about 9 months of the year.

Netting could be solved pretty easily. But it's far to much size and weight to go backpacking.

As far as a 2 person, without seperate sleeping "pods" like the vertex, your pretty much going to end up laying on top of each other.
