    Hi from Missouri

Hi everyone. Just a little about myself I suppose. I got a hammock because I can't think or a better way to relax. Have you ever seen someone unhappy in a hammock...? Well unless they are falling out. Back to myself. I'm 36 and I live in southwest Missouri. I picked up an ENO Double Nest as my first hammock. The reason I got the hammock was to enjoy more time outdoors. I volunteer with a group that builds mountain bike trails so when the day is over I felt I should put some of these trees to use . Over the next year we plan on adding 8 more miles of single track so I will be out in the woods a lot. If you are in the Nixa/Springfield, MO area, look up Two Rivers Mountain Bike Park. Great hiking and biking with an open policy for an overnight stay. Any other questions for me...just ask.

    Cheers

    Kelly

Welcome from Republic, MO! Thanks for the info on Two Rivers Mountain Bike Park. I've been looking for something a little closer to Springfield that has hiking and camping. I've been going out to Busiek which is a bit of a drive, and Hercules Glades Wilderness which is a LONG drive. It'll be nice to have a place close where I can go test out new hammock gear or get a hike in. Paved walking trails that are 1 mile long don't count as "hiking" to me.

Welcome to the forum from Kansas. I enjoy the Missouri parks and spend time in Columbia Mo each fall.

Glad to see some locals. This area is too beautiful not to hang in...

Here is a photo from Two Rivers...I'm not sure who they are but it gives you an idea:

Hi Flounder. Can you recommend a good spot in Busiek? I'm a newb with a lot of gear to test and I'm looking for a place other than my back yard to hang out.

Whenever I go to Busiek, I go to the trail on the gun range side. As you turn into Busiek and go down the hill, turn right at the bottom and follow the road past the quarry. The trail is on the right as you get close to the gun range. The trail goes up a big hill, but it has lots of switchbacks, so it is super easy. At the top of the hill the trail gets flat and there are lots of trees up there to test with. They just did a controlled burn a couple weeks ago, so all the underbrush is gone. The views up there are pretty good as well.

Hercules Glades Wilderness might be closer for you. Not quite sure. You can Google it. It is a 12,000 acre wilderness area I've only been out there once and hiked in and out overnight. It is more remote and is beautiful.
