2014 Spring-MAHHA Pre-Hike from Quarry Gap

Replying to keep tabs on this. Currently I'm planning on going in from the other direction.

WV, Sounds like what I did last year. It was really enjoyable. Drove to the Route 30 lot after work on Wednesday and had Quarry Gap shelter to myself, what a treat. Got up fairly early and headed to Toms Run shelter area and had my best night's sleep ever. Woke up late, baked a muffin and strolled the few miles into MAHHA around noon.

Either Happy Camper or I will be available to dog sit at the campground. One of us will be shuttling down to Caledonia to pick a car the other can dog sit.

I am not sure where I am starting Thursday morning. Will stay at either Quarry Gap or Birch Run, depending on when and where I start (10 miles vs 17.5 each day). Is anyone staying at Birch Run?

I have commitment from Anne to do the pre hike also

We will be to PA early in the week.

2 nights from Caledonia to PGF

Is this still your plan? I was thinking the same thing. I love birch run, there are some awesome hang sites there. Plus it would be a leisurely hike to PGF on Friday.

I am planning on staying at Quarry Gap Thursday night and hiking into Pine Grove 17.5miles Friday.
Trying out my new gear (newbie). I may need some help.

Sorry, Downhill Trucker. Being the fickle girl that I am, I decided to do my pre hike south from Boiling Springs.

Actually, I already did the northbound pre hike last year and wanted to do the south hike, but as of my posting no one else had planned to hike down. I am silly about staying by myself at the shelters

Doogie and G Hawk are now planning on hiking in from Boiling Springs, too, so I won't be alone at the shelter Thursday night..

Sounds like you will have a lot of company, though!
