So complete rookie here. Looking to start hanging on our trips to Quetico. I am curious on what are "go" and "no go" lengths on the DangerBird. Is 60'' a minimum width to be comfortable in an 11 footer? I'm 6'1 165 lbs. Any advice is appreciated!

I recommend you call Randy at Dream Hammocks and he'll set you straight.
60" is probably a pretty good width. I'm 5' 6" so ordered a 10 ft, but with a 66" width. Very happy with it. The max width would be your height, but you need to consider if you want to carry the additional weight of said hammock. It will make sleeping at a diagonal to the line of the hammock slightly easier. At 60" you can still lay at a diagonal, but a wider width you can lay at a greater diagonal. Randy probably knows more about it and may be better at explaining the advantages, or lack there of, of a wider hammock.
Yes i've been in contact with PapaSmurf, I was just curious if anyone had any personal preferences and advantages or disadvantages. Thanks!!
I am 6'-2", 220 lbs. and I have an 11' Darien, DL 1.1 ripstop. The material width is 64", but that was the minimum width I could the material in. It is comfortable.
I'm 6'2", 230#. I have an 11 ft Thunderbird, double layer, in 1.9 oz Foliage Gray, which is about 68" wide (the widest fabric I could find). This hammock has a comfort rating of 400# !! and I sleep like a baby. All that width lets me sleep at quite an angle. Weight wasn't an issue because I'm a motorcycle camper, not a hiker.
I'm 5'9", 225. Sleep in my DB72 11' nearly every night. It beats my SelectComfort. I motorcycle tour so comfort more than size/weight concerned my selection.
I like it so much I have permanent hanging spots indoors and out for the nights I'm not on the road.
I just tried to sleep in the bed for a week straight and couldn't do it. I'm a DB junky.
There may be more width than I need but that also gives it cavernosity for sitting uptight and changing shirts or flipping end for end to change the view, without unzipping and letting the skeeters in. It may sound silly, but you'll want that some day.
Go for the comfort, reduce size by necessity only. Second only to footwear, you spend more time in hammock than anything else you'll carry.
Whatever you choose, DreamHammocks are fantastically well made, durable, comfortable, and hand crafted for you by a team that has your well being as their highest priority. And I'm not giving that up frivolously. Randy has earned every praise with every stitch.
Thanks everybody! Bout to order my first hammock.. DB60 11'. Im gunna go with nightgrid outside and olive inside with a black overcover! Let the wait begin!
