    Question Underquilt Storage

So I'm curious how you folks store your quilt when not in use. I've read where many of you say you hang it in a closet. How exactly do you hang it? Do you fold it over and put it through the hanger like you would a pair of pants? Do you somehow clip the quilt suspension onto the clothes hanger? Do you store it in a large pillow case and then hang the pillow case?

Currently, I have a HG Incubator and I just have it stored semi-loosely in a pillow case and then have the pillow case clipped to a clothes hanger in the closet.

Just curious what some of you do. I wish I had an extra bed that I could just leave it laying out on top of, but I don't. Trying to find the next best solution to keep the down as uncompressed as possible while at the same time taking up as little space as possible in the closet.

Also, I would never keep it stored in the attic, but I'm guessing the garage would also not be a good place to store it. Thoughts?

We keep ours in pillow cases clipped to hangers, when not in use. They are stored in the closet in our spare bedroom.

We actually have hammocks hung in the spare room, and usually have the Phoenix UQs on those hammocks, rather than stored.

I like to hook each end of the UQ (s-biners) over the coat hanger hook. Then just hang it up. Nice and out of the way!

I just started using an old shoe organizer that the wife had no more use for. (One that's similar to this.) I cut out the dividers (they were fabric) and hung it in the shed. It's breathable and has a full-zippered front, so getting at my quilts is pretty easy.

    Hope it helps!

I like the shoe organizer idea. Currently I just clip the hooks on either end to a hanger and toss it in the closet.

I keep mine in the JRB plastic storage bags they were shipped in.

I was thinking about this the other day.

I will probably build or buy one of those collapsible square storage bin book cases to keep them in.

I loop the primary suspension from each end over the hanger hook. Similar to others, but not using the s-biner. They are only plastic, and I don't want to have one give out in the field because it decided that it had spent enough time supporting the quilt in the closet.

My quilts came with large storage sacks which I keep in large plastic boxes in my attic.

When not in use, my HG quilts stay in the storage sacks provided by HG. Those sacks (as well as a down sleeping bag) are stored inside a large zippered plastic Christmas Tree bag (available at the Container Store).
