I thought this thread was about fanny packs. I'm glad to see I was wrong.

So I was able to make the gear sling. The pictures are with the use of a Turtle Dog Stand so I wasn't able to go under the Hammock like normal. I made it wide enough so that I could wrap my whole pack up to keep out the critters. I think I am going to make another out of a coated rip stop for some weather proofing.

Good looking and very neat work. I've started to use two they are that handy to have about the place
Nicely done will.
I use my 2QZQ UQP as a quilt and down cloths holder, hung alongside the hammock,to allow them to loft when I want to use the hammock as a chair for cooking etc.
It keeps the quils and coats from flying out everytime you get in or out of the hammock.
How about using a nylon net hammock? $6 and they last forever (mine is 40+ years old).
P.S. I've never used it as a Under belly gear sling but think it would work.

I like the idea of a gear loft too, so I was racking my brain how to pull it off and then I realized that cargo nets that are generally used in vans/suv trunks would fit the bill. I had one left over from the van that died so I tried it out at the last hang.
I decided to hang it from the tarp ridge line. The image is from the R&D lab, aka the back yard , during a test run. From that test run I realized that I needed a better way to secure the position along the ridge line. So the HH doohickeys now have that function, and the "non climbing" 150lb carabiners carry the load.
It may not be the lightest weight option but is it the cheapest option as it a re-purposed item. Hopefully this post serves to spark someone's imagination.

Well the 1.1oz that I used didn't last to long (1 test run) before it started falling apart. So I decided to redo it out of left over 1.9oz coated ripstop I had left over. The only problem is that I didn't have enough to wrap all the way around my pack like the last one but this works just as good as the last one and is strong enough to hold me up as well.
Photos to follow when I get back home.

I have a ENO restnest that I got off of Sierra Trading Post for 20 dollars and it only weighs 13 oz. if you pulled the ropes and hooks off the ends and put on a couple whoopsies you could probably size a few ounces. I like your idea as a gear hammock I may use that idea. For 20 bucks and 13 ounces I am not sure it is worth your effort to DIY one.
