Tarp with two off centre seams

Had some spare 1.9 oz waterproof rip-stop (I think its PU as its not greasy like sil but its still stretchy, never seen one quite like it)

cat cuts on all sides with double rolled edges

I only had 16' or fabric to play with so its a bit short at 9' and 8' wide.

Its a French seam with an extra fold in (I think?!) on each side with a full width of rip-stop in the middle with no seam at the apex. pull-out sewn onto this seam on each side

10mm grosgrain tie-outs and pull-outs

14oz with all the cords attached

Not bad for a bit of sewing practice

I had thought of doing this with cuben fiber. It makes for easy installation of pullouts and no seam at the ridgeline.

It does make for really nice and secure pull-outs. The tie-outs where the ridgeline would normally be don't feel as strong, part of me just wants to crank it and see when they break!

Did you sew a gusset at the ridgeline pullouts to strengthen them like you would at corner pullouts. I believe you can heat weld PU ripstop so the only stitched seam would be at the edge hem.

No I just added extra grosgrain to the edges both top and bottom. I may do an extra reinforcement later though.

Nice looking setup. I am thinking of doing a tarp here soon, but I am a bit afraid of the ridgeline seam...lol

A ridgeline seam is easy to do but harder to get perfect and looking pretty

Handsome looking tarp my friend! I've just finished a 11' x 10' tarp.... I know how much time and effort went in well done. Have a cup of water on me!

Im in the middle of my 2nd now and I've started to smooth out an issue I had that shows up in one photo of yours "puckering". To fix adjust thread tension and slightly pulling the fabric through the machine. Worked for me.
If you're worried about strength put some shock cord tarp tensioners on there to give it a little give.... It makes a nice tight tarp too. What's your ridgeline made of?
