    MN>SHT>March 28-30th

Started a group on facebook called Midwest Backpackers and we're tentatively planning the first trip. If you'd like to join the group you can do so here:

There is an event/invite associated with the group if you're so inclined. Otherwise the details are still forming, but we're tentatively planning the groups first trip from March 28th-30th on the SHT (section TBD) Comment below if you're interested and I'll keep this post updated, or you could just join the group for updates too

I'd join be in on this trip if it wasn't for the Trampled by Turtles concert I have tickets for in St Cloud. I did send a request to join the group, though.

Are you guys bringing snowshoes? Gonna be a TON of snow on the trail yet in two weeks. Not that there's anything wrong with that of course, though I'm pretty sick of winter myself. Got a bad case of cabin fever. I'm guessing there will be snow on the trail until at least the third week of April. Getting pretty anxious for some spring trail time.

The snow is prevalent and it's quite unpredictable up around Two Harbors. There are a great number of areas where there is a decent crust on top with very little under that crust. Post holing in snowshoes is not fun.

We've got 24-30 inches on the ground all over the place up here. Where the trail isn't snowy, it's going to be quite wet or icy at the end of this month.

    Be prepared.
If your lucky enough to be outdoors, your lucky enough!

I have to agree, I have some major cabin fever. Unless Northern Minnesota gets 50 degree days, the snow will still be deep on the SHT.

Please keep me updated on your planning.
