I almost went. How was it.
Hello all. Last night I was looking thru my trail maps of the area from 6 or 7 years ago and none of my maps show a River Loop Trail. Is this a new trail?
There is a connector trail (North Country Trail) from archers fork trail to the scenic river trail and that heads south until almost the OH river the trail that heads west and then north to complete the trail back to the connector is the river loop trail, I am not sure how old it is.
Remember it is 2 weeks out and yesterday it was saying it would be in the 60s

I was looking over the maps. There is an alternative trailhead on County Nine Road just a .5 mile south of the campsite. This is a good chance for any that can't do a long hike in or any how are running late.
I doubt we get anymore folks from the OH hikers/backpackers group. My first time on there, I looked for rules regarding posting (found none) and this is what I get:
"A post in this comment section promoting an event that was not part of this groups activity has been deleted. Please do not use this site to promote other groups activities. You are more than welcome to start your own Meetup group, pay those fees, and do your due diligence through there. It takes work to run a successful group. Please do NOT take advantage of others hard work. Continued efforts to do so will result in being deleted from our group. Thanks you."
Could be a little bit nicer about it, not cool at all.
I replied:
"A polite, "we do not allow anyone to post new trips, etc." would suffice with a simple direction to the meet up group rules would work. I searched for rules regarding new trips, etc. and found none. I was not trying to push in on anyone's "hard work", but rather hiked with a few folks that mentioned the hike was full and was trying to be helpful. First time hiker with this group and first time poster. No need to go on about fees ($12 bucks a month for a group) and the all caps (representing shouting). Nice welcome to a new member."
I am guessing I will get deleted, oh well. Been on many backpacking forums over the years, never had anyone come at me like that, It is not like I have been telling folks to hike with me and not the group for a couple years...oh well...
So some warning and added mileage.
On the AFT just after marker 2 there is water crossing. The trail is now blazed to north along the hollow to a shallower crossing and back down to the trail. Add .75-1 mile.
On AFT after marker 4. From the rock outcropping to the first camp site is a very steep hill.
On AFT just after marker 7 trail goes farther north than is shown wraping around that hill instead of up to ridge then back down. Add .5 miles.
I'll be doing a shake down hike this weekend, most likely at Battle Darby Creek Park in Columbus. Not sure at the moment when if anyone wants to join let me know and we'll set a time. I know 6 mile hike in the main park and a 5 mile in the area where the ice pond is. The second one has a couple good hills and a decent field. It is used for cross country skiing in the winter and few use it after that.
