Or - How To Handle 24' of Fabric
Ripstopbytheroll sells a very nice orange 1.9 oz ripstop nylon that we decided to use when another HF member wanted a double layer hammock made. To my eye, the color is a strong orange without the red overtones some blaze orange has.
When I had made DL hammocks in the past, I cut two pieces to work with. This time I decided to use one continuous piece and fold it in half. My first problem when I opened the package was how the heck was I going to handle working with a 24' long piece? My answer was 3/4" PVC pipe...roll it up. This worked well for the end cuts and for sewing. I hung it under the table edge with a C-clamp on one end and a tripod for the other end. Sew 24' of rolled hem, re-roll, sew 24' of rolled hem, fold in half and re-roll, sew the halves together.

Add black whoopie slings and an adjustable dynaglide SRL and you have a hammock.
