    Net as Snow Tarp

I got out a few times this winter when it was snowing for day hangs, without a tarp, and my WBBB net proved to be remarkably snow proof. I may have just gotten lucky with the right type of snow, and it certainly wouldn't resist ice rain, but the snow provided quite a bit of insulation. Has anybody else had experience with this? Would it be safe to set up tent hammock in the backcountry sans tarp on snowy nights when there's absolutely no chance of rain?

If it falls gently, the netting will likely keep most snow out, assuming it's cold enough not to fall wet, but if there's wind it will drive snow through. If you had the XLC with the overcover you could get away with that without a tarp in most winter conditions.
